First Bus Ride

Before we came to Logan this morning, we all got up at seven and weeded for a couple of hours. Everyone was not very thrilled but it was so overgrown and apparently the older girls and Dave don't know what a weed popper and kneeling pad is so we had to take care of the problem before the weeds took over the whole house. It had rained the whole day before and the sprinkler system went on during the night, even though it was turned to rain delay, so the ground was amazingly soft and easy to work with. Dave mowed the lawn in the front and the back and after the weeding was done, the yard looked presentable again. We headed up to Logan around 10:30 to be at the 2:00 Oliver rehearsal. Sierra and Jace also had a South Pacific from 4-8. While they were gone, we made a birthday cake for one of Hannah's friends and some cupcakes too.
Logan has a free bus transit system that goes anywhere in Logan. They are nice buses, with air conditioning and nice bus stops. It's a sweet set-up. We took a bus to Smith's to get some frosting and the girls were so giddy sitting on the back seat, next to the big window and looking out together. So cute! We'll have to get better at the bus route map because we didn't calculate our time wisely and had to walk the four blocks back to our apartment. Olivia cried the whole way home, disappointed that we couldn't take the bus and "her legs were tired". I gave her some time in her room when we got home to rest her legs:)
Dave came up to Logan for 3 days while Hannah is 5 blocks away at USU for a leadership conference. He helped run the kids to rehearsals today, went to the park with the little girls while I cooked dinner, played a dice game with the kids before bed and went on a walk tonight with the fam while the kids were practicing. He got to meet all of the neighbors and sat outside on the steps eating nachos and socializing with all of the singers in the plays. I think he wishes he were in one of the plays. He would be so good. Maybe next year:)
I've had to step up my cooking game for the next three days. We had lemon fish, white rice, spinach and salad with lettuce from our garden. After Dave goes home, I can get back to easy meals that the kids enjoy. He swears he doesn't care if I make easy food, but he will make comments like, "I think I'm going to eat light tonight" and then he'll totally make his own gourmet "light" meal:)
